Return to Seeing the Southwest
Three Rivers Petroglyph Site, NM
There are over 21,000 petroglyphs at the Three Rivers site. It was difficult, but we’ve narrowed our photos down to just under 130. This rock art is from a group of Native Americans referred to as the Jornada Mogollon, estimated to have lived here around 1,000 years ago. The first 11 glyphs are highlighted in the Site Trail Guide, so I’ve added their descriptions to our images. Some are easy to figure out; for others just use your imagination.
